Donna Rae Mowl
Donna Rae “Punkin” Mowl, 80, of Beallsville, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, September 10, 2019.
She was born December 17, 1938, in Ontario, a daughter of the late Charles “Jim” and Evelyn “Marie” VanVoorhis Mowl Sr.
She was a lifelong member of Beallsville United Methodist Church and a member of the Vestaburg Senior Citizens Center and Beallsville Civic Association.
For the last few days of her life, Punkin could not speak well at all. But if she could, I imagine that it would have gone something like this: I have lived a long and happy life. 80 years is a long time. I have nothing but happy memories. finding golf balls on the golf course and going fishing, playing cards at Aunt Annie’s and Mary’s house, sharing the fine art of needle work with my family and the community, getting to go to the senior center almost every day, Wednesday night Bingo at the Bentleyville VFD and the amazing overnight trips that I would take twice a year to Wheeling Island. And I must say that since I have been in my home in Beallsville, I have had the best, God given, friends, neighbors (Jeff Dolak) and family (Missy Rhodes) to look after me. But for the past five years, I was cared for by my niece, Amy Cook. She was my angel on earth. Now the time has come when I can say, “Do not worry for me any longer, for at 2:15 a.m. this morning, I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home when God looked down and smiled at me from His great golden throne. I love you all!”
Surviving are her sister-in-law Cel Mowl and many nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are three sisters, Saundra Siekiel, Mary Rhodes and Barbara Hermann and one brother, Charles “Chuck” Mowl Jr.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 16, in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., 2830 Main St., Beallsville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., PO Box 11, 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA, 15313.
