John Vernon Byard
John Vernon Byard, 80, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, December 5, 2020. He was born May 13, 1940, in Washington Township, to Mary Marie Burnfield Byard and Joseph Earl Byard and spent most of his life growing up in Ruff Creek on a picturesque farm located on RD #5, now known as Byard Rd.
John was a graduate of Waynesburg High School Class of 1958, where he was an outstanding athlete winning the title of State Wrestling Champion. After graduation, John furthered his studies to become a certified tool and die maker and was employed by the Lincoln Electric Company in Cleveland for more than 40 years.
He resided in Willowick with his wife of 58 years. John possessed a kind heart and gentle spirit and was dearly loved by his family for his unwavering sense of commitment to those he loved.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Constance “Connie” Sue Lemley Byard; parents Mary Marie Byard and Joseph Earl Byard; brother James Byard; sisters Martha Jane DeBolt and Mary Susan Brewer.
John is survived by his cherished daughters, Cheryl Diane (Larry) Gregerson of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Sharon Lynn (Chris) Margevicius of Cleveland, Ohio; and his beloved grandson, Phillip Margevicius. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Ann Mihalec; and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services and internment at Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, have been entrusted to Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
