Ruth A. Kimble

Ruth A. Kimble, 76, of Independence Township, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, in her home on the family farm, surrounded by loved ones after an eight-month battle with cancer.

She was born February 28, 1944, on the family farm in Independence Township, a daughter of the late Bernard A. and Matilda Ograyensek Kimble.

Ruth attended Avella High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Waynesburg College in 1988. She worked as a registered nurse at Canonsburg Hospital, Presbyterian Senior Care and the Visiting Nurse Association of Washington Co.

She was a member of Grove United Presbyterian Church and Independence Grange.

Ruth was a 4-H Horse/ Pony Leader and an American Cancer Society volunteer.

She enjoyed raising AQHA horses, miniature donkeys and Shetland Sheep dogs, horse showing and trail riding and she especially loved spending time with her family.

Ruth lived her entire life on the family farm in Independence Township.

Surviving Ruth are three children, Lorraine (Doug) Hodgkiss, Marci Yocum and Bryan Yocum, all of Independence Township; three grandchildren, Travis (Amber) Hodgkiss, Drew (Sarah) Hodgkiss and Jaycee Yocum.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are brothers Howard and Charles Kimble and Eugene, who died in infancy.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, all funeral services and burial are private.
