Robert G. “Loggy” O’Hare, 83, of Canonsburg, formerly of Muse, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 28, 1937 in Muse, a son of the late John and Viola Meir O’Hare Sr.

Loggy was raised in Muse, the youngest of ten, living most of his life there until moving to Canonsburg in 1985. He worked as an electrical finisher for Cooper Industries, formerly known as McGraw Edison for 35 years, and as an usher at The Meadows for 32 years.

Loggy was a huge football fan, mainly rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, in his younger years he played for the Washington Generals and the Pennsylvania Mustangs.

One of his greatest joys in life was cooking breakfast for his great-grandchildren and spending time with his family. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball, golfing and camping in his trailer at the Slovenian Narodna Podporna Jednota camp site.

He was a member of the Muse Italian Club, SNPJ Lodge 138 in Strabane, VFW 191 and the White Eagles.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his life partner and faithful companion of 30 years, Judy Alderson of Canonsburg; son, Robert (Jeannie) O’Hare Jr. of Muse; five daughters, Denise Wester of Strabane, Marsha O’Hare of Washington, Mary Catherine (Raymond) Szalanski of Canonsburg, Margaret O’Hare of Canonsburg and Kristina (Randy) Thomson of Rochester, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. Also surviving is his brother, William “Weezer” O’Hare of Muse; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are the mother of his children, Joan M. Slovian O’Hare; five brothers, Patrick, John Jr. “Hoss,” James, Donald “Grit,” and Leo O’Hare; and three sisters Delores “Anna Louise” Marinelli, Ellen “Sis” Howe and Mary Catherine O’Hare.

Friends and family are welcome 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. The service will be live streamed over Facebook and the Salandra website, where directions for viewing are on the homepage and will be available at 12:50 p.m. Saturday.

Burial will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, www.myotonic.org.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, masks must be worn, and 10 persons at a time will be admitted into the funeral home.
