Marian Jacqueline Kostak

“Not all of us can do great things but we can do small things with great love.” – Mother Teresa
Our mother was small in stature, but she had a heart as big as the great outdoors. Her love and generosity was fueled by an unwavering faith in God. Prayer and family was the center of her daily routine. Marian Kostak, 87, was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, extended family member and loyal friend. She died Saturday, December 19, 2020, in her son’s home in Clemmons, N.C.
Marian was born August 13, 1933. She was raised in Carmichaels with her two brothers, Jack and Bernard.
Marian married George Kostak June 27, 1953. In 1954, they moved to Maryland, where they raised three children, Georgetta, Linda and John until 1973 when they returned to Carmichaels.
Marian was a beautician and enjoyed running Marian’s Beauty Shop out of her home in Carmichaels. She was also an active member of the Rosary Society at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church. Marian and George enjoyed visiting and hosting family, doting on grandchildren, polka dancing and traveling with friends. Marian also loved to bake, tend to her house plants, and cheer on her favorite football teams: The Steelers and Notre Dame!
In 2002, Marian and George downsized to a smaller home in Uniontown, where they developed lifelong friendships among neighbors and their church family at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In 2016, Marian moved to Creekside Terrace in Winston-Salem, N.C., where she enjoyed living near her son and his family. Marian became well known and loved among her retirement community of friends and enjoyed attending Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, N.C.
Marian is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Georgetta McKenzie (Emmett) of Carmichaels; son John Kostak (Patricia) of Clemmons; grandchildren, Alicia Crilly, Bryan Csanady (Ashley) and Joshua Kostak (Abigail); and six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Caleb, Sydney Enci, Charlotte, Alexander Crilly and Piper Csanady.
She was preceded in death by parents Josephine and Charles Kesock; brothers Jack and Bernard Kesock; husband George Kostak; and daughter Linda Kostak.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to your local Salvation Army chapter be made in honor of our mother’s legacy by extending love and help to those who are suffering in this time of need.
