Elsie May Lyle
Elsie May Lyle, 86, of Washington, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in Canonsburg Hospital.
She was born December 24, 1934, in Aleppo Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late James Arthur and Sarah “Arabelle” Dains Hull.
She graduated from Richhill Township High School.
She retired as a head cashier of Interstate Foodland after 20 years. She was a member of Friendship Community Church and loved sewing, quilting, baking, scrapbooking, journaling, and growing and tending to her flowers. At Christmas, she often sewed bags for Navajo Indian children as part of the Taggart Ministry.
On June 12, 1955, she married Eugene E. “Ernie” Lyle, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons Gene (Amalia) Lyle of Honesdale and Donald M. (Susan Pring Lyle) Lyle of Warren; sisters Vivian (the late Robert) Blair of Columbus, Ohio, and Ellen (the late Rev. Elwood) Daugherty of W.Va.; grandchildren Brad Rudolph, Sarah (Jeremiah) Padilla, Mary (Shaine) Lepley, Justin (Kaitlyn) Lyle, and Josalyn Lyle; great-grandson David; and several nieces and nephews.
Elsie was predeceased by daughter Lila Sue Lyle; son David Arthur Lyle; grandson David Franklin Lyle; and sister Ruth Chambers.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 31, in Washington Cemetery, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Those wishing to attend the procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
