Charles H. Ganiear
Charles H. Ganiear, 88, of Waynesburg, died Sunday, December 27, 2020, in the Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Waynesburg following an illness of 10 years.
He was born Friday, November 25, 1932, in Waynesburg, a son of the late J. Wood Ganiear and Charlotte DeVore Ganiear. Charles was a lifelong resident of Greene County.
Charles was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg. He was on the Executive Board for 25 years with the former Greene County Memorial Hospital.
He loved to play the organ from an early age playing for many weddings and funerals. Playing the organ helped pay his way through college. Charles was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Following his graduation he worked for PPG as a securities analyst, he then worked for First National Bank doing estate planning. Charles later worked for Waynesburg College as a Business Manager and retired selling real estate.
His first wife, Brenda H. Ganiear, died May 17, 1994.
He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy J. Ganiear, whom he married June 7, 1997.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles “Chip” W. (Lori) Ganiear of Hyannis, Mass. and David C. (Joanna) Ganiear of South Lake, Tex.; five stepchildren; and 16 grandchildren.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, all visitation and services will be private with his son, Pastor Charles W. Ganiear, officiating. Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director, 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, have been entrusted with his arrangements. Private burial will be in Greene Mount Cemetery, Waynesburg.
