Margaret LaVaughn Evans

Margaret LaVaughn Bishop Evans passed away on December 27, 2020 in Twinsburg, Ohio She was born June 3, 1927, in Houston, a daughter of the late John H. and Margretta Cushnie Bishop.
LaVaughn was a past president of the women’s nine-hole golf group at the Royal Poinciana Golf Club in Naples, Fla. She was a volunteer with the Perky Patchers quilting group. She was a member of PEO Chapter HV, a lifetime member of the order of Eastern Star and White Shrine. Additional volunteer activities included the hospital in Burlington, Iowa; Meals-on-Wheels in Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and Boys and Girls Club of America in Syracuse, N.Y. An avid quilter and knitter, LaVaughn also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. She was a member of Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples, Fla.
LaVaughn graduated from East Washington High School, Washington, in 1946. She was employed by the Bell Telephone Company, and the Pennsylvania Transformer Company, both in Canonsburg, and subsequently at General Electric Company in Lynn, Mass.
LaVaughn’s family always came first. Her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren were the great joy of her life, and she was known for her sharp wit and great sense of humor.
LaVaughn married her beloved John Dows Evans in 1952. She is survived by two sons; John (Sue) Wesley Evans of St. Charles, Ill., and David (Deborah) Bishop Evans of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Laura, Megan, John D. Evans II, and Shelby. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Van, Eisley, Craig, and Eleanor; nieces Patti Dietz of Fredericktown, Susan Condi of Eighty Four, Linda Jeremias of Wexford; and nephew Barry Bishop of Green Valley, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Marjorie and Jean; a brother, Thornton; and two infants at birth.
