Michelle A. “Mickey” Jones, 62, of Washington, formerly of Wellsburg, W.Va., died Thursday, June 25, 2020, in the Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing.

She was born April 19, 1958, in Wellsburg, a daughter of the late Wilbert “Wib” and Donna Cook Young.

Mickey was a 1976 graduate of Brooke High School and went on to attend nursing school.

She and her father ran Young’s Highway Store for many years.

Mickey enjoyed stitch work and had a passion for poetry. She was a member of the United States Poet Society, from which she received a national award for one of her works.

On March 12, 1988, in Wellsburg, she married the love of her life, Allen Jones, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Brandon Jones of Newark, Ohio; a brother, Randy (Sylvia) Young; a sister, Jeri (Donald) Andrews, both of Wellsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. All other services are private.
