Theresa Christy, 96, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, and Fredericktown, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020, in Orlando.

She was born April 13, 1924, in Fredericktown, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Chelena.

Theresa was a registered nurse for more than 30 years and head nurse at Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Her husband, John E. Christy, passed away September 19, 1976.

Theresa’s hobbies included gardening, attending church and being a grandparent.

Surviving are a son, Wallace Christy; two grandsons, Michael Anders (Lisa) and Christopher Anders (Rebecca); four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Nicholas, Max and Chloe Anders, all of Orlando; son-in-law Gregory Anders (Jade); one sister, Barbara Speelman; many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a daughter, Jane Anders; three brothers and four sisters.

Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m., the time of a Panachida Service, Wednesday, July 22, in Greenlee’s Fredericktown Funeral Home, Ltd., 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, followed by a Divine Liturgy service at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Brownsville, with Fr. Christopher Burke as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
