Delmont F. Rush, 97, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Washington, passed away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2020, in his home.

He was born June 20, 1922, in Nineveh, a son of the late Floyd Rush and Elizabeth Patterson.

Delmont attended Waynesburg High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving in World War II from 1942 to 1943.

On February 5, 1944, he married Thelma Hiller, who died May 7, 2012. They were married for 68 years.

He retired as a pipeline welder.

He was a member of American Legion Post 175, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason, Syria Shrine and served as vice president on the Board of Directors of Washington County Senior Citizens.

Delmont loved music and played the organ. He and his wife Thelma were avid dancers, and they performed with various senior citizens groups. They enjoyed all types of dances, including square dancing.

Delmont enjoyed attending his great-grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

Mr. Rush attended Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Vallie R. (the late John) Work of Cranberry Township; a granddaughter, Shannon (Chad) Robertson of Cranberry Township; three great-grandchildren, Drew, Luke and Chloe Robertson; and three sisters, Helen (the late John) Stickovich, Carol (Jim) Gump and Dayle Forshey and companion Elaine Cahall of Zelienople.

Deceased are eight siblings.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, March 14, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
