Rose Lazorchak
Rose Lazorchak, 99, of McMurray, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 2, 2021, at St. Clair Health, Mt. Lebanon Township, with her devoted daughter Shirley by her side.
She was born February 5, 1922, in Manifold, a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Kecs Uram. Mrs. Lazorchak lived most of her life in Canonsburg prior to moving to Peters Township with her daughter in 2013.
She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School class of 1941 and a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church. Although she was primarily a homemaker, prior to her marriage Rose had been employed at the Washington County Courthouse and the former RCA plant in Canonsburg. Rose faithfully read her Orthodox prayer book, loved crocheting, enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing with the family schnauzers. She had been a member of the Russian Brotherhood Organization.
On June 24, 1951, she married William Lazorchak Sr., who passed away April 10, 2000.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter and caretaker, Shirley A. Lazorchak, Ph.D., with whom she made her home; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lazorchak was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her son, William M. “Chip” Lazorchak, who passed away May 12, 2009; sisters, Anne Uram Kongelka and Mary Uram Kirr; and brothers, Harry, George, Nicholas and Frank Uram.
Friends and family are welcome from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. April 8, in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Boone Avenue, Canonsburg, with Father John Joseph Kotalik officiating. Those attending please meet at the church. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery. Parastas services will take place at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
