Betty Jane Bird
Betty Jane Bird, 95, of Washington, died April 3, 2021.
She was born March 17, 1926, in Washington, a daughter of the late Beauregard and Mary Toland Pierson.
Betty was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Apostolic Faith Assembly Church and played the piano in her church for more than 50 years.
To say that Betty loved fishing, is really an understatement. It was one of her favorite things to do.
On April 17, 1945, Betty married Robert Sherman Bird, who died May 19, 1991.
Surviving are sons, Robert S. (Tina) Bird Jr. of Satsuma, Fla., Larry Bird of Washington, Fred (Donna) Bird of Washington; a daughter, Carolyn McCartney of Washington; 23 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by sons, Denny and Tim Bird; brothers, Gardie, Fred, Clifford, James, Herman; sisters, Goldie, Birdie, Edith, Mary, Rose, Jean and Marguerite.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Amedisys Home Health Care, 480 Johnson Road, Suite 200, Washington, PA 15301.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 9, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. in William G Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. Covid-19 precautions will apply.
Interment will be private.
