Gerald Hillard Lowery
Gerald Hillard Lowery, 82, passed away on the morning of Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Gerald was the loving husband of Rosalie Smialek Lowery for 47 years, until her death in 2007. He was the father of Deborah Lynn, Michael Gerald, and Scott Patrick Lowery.
He is survived by his sons, Michael and Scott; his sister, Betty Mae Morgan; several nieces and nephews; and his tuxedo cat, Rooney.
Gerald graduated from Cecil High School in 1956. During high school, he participated on the football, basketball and wrestling teams, served on the yearbook staff, as class treasurer, and was class president in his junior and senior years. After graduating from high school, he briefly attended Duquesne University.
Gerald worked as a chemical engineer in the foundry industry with G E Smith, C-E Cast, CastAmerica, and finally the foundry supply division of Ashland Chemical. He retired in 2001.
Gerald loved to attend sporting events and live entertainment. He loved to travel with his family, especially on summer vacation to Ocean City, N.J. He was an avid fan of the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, and has held Steelers season tickets since 1970. He was present to witness The Immaculate Reception. No, seriously, he was – he even owns his stadium seat (number 13) from that day.
He was a modest, unassuming man with a quiet demeanor and a steady temperament. He was a warm and gentle soul who was respected by all, and whose absence will leave a terrible void in the lives of those who adored him.
