Leon Popiolkowski

Leon Popiolkowski, 84, of Canonsburg, human life ended and spiritual life began Saturday, April 24, 2021, in North Strabane Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. He was born October 14, 1936, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Leo and Mary Spilak Popiolkowski.

Leon was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and a life-long resident of Canonsburg. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945.

For 50 years, Leon worked as an engineer for McGraw Edison and then as an independent contractor for 10 years.

Leon was a member of St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish and an avid horse player.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Georgia Krist Popiolkowski; son Mark Popiolkowski and grandson Ellis Popiolkowski, both of Canonsburg.

Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 3, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg.
