William George McKee
William George “Bones” McKee, 61, of Avella, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, in his home, surrounded by family and friends.
Bones was born February 27, 1960, to the late Urson Joshua McKee and Phoebe Alberta Hall McKee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John McKee.
Bones is survived by his wife of 27 years, Bonnie Cook McKee; his daughter, Amanda (Justin) Smart of Beech Bottom, W.Va.; and his son, William “Billy” (Lauren) McKee of Avella; and two granddaughters, Virginia and Stella Smart. Also surviving are his sister, Francis (James) Marquis of McDonald; three brothers, Urson (Denise) McKee of Wellsburg, W.Va., Tom (Janet) McKee of Washington, Donnie (Tammie) Hall of Avella; his ride-or-die best friend, Dennis “Chum” Halmi; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Bones was a lifelong resident of Avella, where he graduated from Avella High School in 1979, married Bonnie and raised his family. He worked as a sandblaster in the ’80s and later became an auto mechanic at Tomsic Motors for 32 years along with countless hours in his garage working for friends and family.
Bones was born to ride Harley Davidson; it was one of his greatest joys. He was an avid bowler and played in various leagues with his son and family. He was also a member of the Polar Star Mutual Benefit Society. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Friends and family will be received to celebrate Bones’ life from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, in the Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella, PA 15312, where services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 1.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Avella.
