Maryruth Rhoades
Maryruth Rhoades, 85, of Washington, died Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Premier Washington Health Center.
She was born November 15, 1935, in Washington, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Lillian Korte.
Maryruth attended Washington High School and worked as a cataloguer for Joy Manufacturing before becoming a full-time caregiver and homemaker.
In her free time, she made wedding cakes and enjoyed doing anything crafty, especially crocheting. She loved to camp and passed that love on to her family. They often camped at what they called “Grandma’s Mountains,” a camp site near 7 Springs.
Maryruth was a devoted and active member of Lighthouse Community Church, since its inception.
On July 31, 1954, in Washington, she married the love of her life, William J. Rhoades Sr., who died March 12, 2010.
Surviving are three sons, William J. Rhoades Jr. of West Alexander, Charles A. (Deborah) Rhoades, of Washington and David B. (Stacy) Rhoades of Washington; a sister, Lillian; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Jesse, Danielle and Zachary Rhoades and Nicole Morgan; a great-granddaughter, Avianna Hanley; and several nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are a brother, Charles E. “Buck” Korte Jr.; a sister, Betty Gualtieri; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Rhoades.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, with Pastor Duane Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
