Allen William Hartman was born on June 21, 1948, to Robert Lee Hartman and Juanita Jeanne Izor Hartman. He passed away November 29, 2021 in Carnegie.
Allen was raised in Upper St. Clair, at the historical farmhouse on Hays Road, with his sisters, Roberta and Lee Anne.
He obtained a B.A. in History from Lafayette College, but unexpectedly stepped in to help his dad after college at Hartman Independent Company. His temporary role transitioned to a permanent one as he became invested in sales and operations and ultimately took on the role of the company’s president.
Allen became a Christian in 1977 – “Touched by heaven in ’77,” he used to say. In the same year, he met Mary Beth Skemp at the wedding of a mutual friend. Allen and Mary were married on September 22, 1979, and began a shared life of love, service, dedication and faith in the Lord.
Allen shared 42 years together with Mary, serving the Lord, loving their friends and raising four children: Andrew, Emily, Rob and Jessie.
Allen was diagnosed with stage 3 Mesothelioma in March 2020. He carried on with courage and faith through the trials and suffering of disease and treatment for almost two years.
His faith in the Lord Jesus bore him through his struggles and supplied him with a poise, confidence and expectation that belied his natural circumstances. He is now at peace and rejoicing in the presence of His Savior.
Allen is survived by his wife, Mary; four children; and 10 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lakeview Christian Academy (checks to LCLC), Light of Life Mission, and The Salvation Army.
