Lois Anne McGary

Lois Anne McGary, 94 of Washington, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare.

She was born October 19, 1927, in Washington, the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Bennington Horne.

Mrs. McGary was a 1945 graduate of Chartiers Township High School, and went on to work for Major’s Shoe Store, then in the office of the national store.

She was a 70+ year member of First Christian Church, where she served as a deaconess. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading.

She was a member of Christian Friends; the Canonsburg Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and was a 4H leader.

On October 19, 1947 she married George W. McGary. Mr. McGary died August 25, 1998.

Surviving are a son, Kyle “Redcloud” (Bonnie) McGary of Bentleyville; a daughter, Rosanne M. (David) Karnes of Washington; a grandson, Christopher (Tiffany) McGary of Eighty Four; two nephews, Roger and Michael Horne and a niece, Donna Horne-Gerace.

Deceased is a brother, Charles D. Horne.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, in the Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, with Pat Mary officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
