Mary Carmen Matesic Deems
Mary Carmen Matesic Deems, 74, of Canonsburg, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, in Washington Hospital. She was born January 1, 1947, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Samuel and Judy Guiddy Matesic.
Carmen moved to Canonsburg in 1968 and was employed at Canonsburg General Hospital and had been a darkroom technician until her retirement.
She had been a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild, serving as chaplain. She had been a member of the Washington Pennsylvania Counsel of the Blind and served as president, vice president and chaplain.
Carmen loved music and enjoyed playing her accordion and singing at various venues and churches.
On September 29, 1979, she married Charles R. Deems, who is deceased.
Left behind to cherish her memory are a niece and several cousins. Mrs. Deems was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her twin sister, Mary Matesic; and two brothers, David and Sam Matesic.
Friends are welcome from 1 until the 2 p.m. hour of service Friday, December 10, with Pastor Scott Warne officiating, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, Erin E. Jones LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
