M. Evelyn Patten Anderson
M. Evelyn Patten Anderson, 93, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
She was born February 28, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of Frank Patrick and Genevieve McCann Heffers.
Evelyn was a member of St. James Parish in Washington, and attended mass at St. Hilary Church, where she was a volunteer for various church events, and was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also active in the church for several years as an usher.
Evelyn was a member of the American Legion Post #175 Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge #318, and the Washington Senior Citizens Center, where she enjoyed volunteering whenever the opportunity would arise.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Seniors and Dancers. She also enjoyed bingo and Steelers football.
Her first husband, John Patten, passed away in 1995. Her second husband, Charles Anderson, preceded her in death in 2008.
Surviving is a daughter, Rosemary (James) Sickles of Washington; and a son, John (Linda) Patten of Washington; her grandchildren, Megan (Arthur Gorka) Sickles III, Benjamin Sickles, Ashley (Tommy) Giles, and Skylar (Matthew Trapizona) Patten; step-grandchild, James Sickles; great-grandchildren, Tyler Sickles, Trenten and Traxten Giles, and Frances Gorka; and step-great-grandchild, James Sickles, IV.
In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her companion Bob Lowman.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edwin A. Patten; a brother, Joseph Heffers; and sister, Geraldine Grebinski.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, at 1290 Jefferson Avenue, in Washington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, in St. Hilary Church, in Washington.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens in McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Washington Senior Center.
