Charles “Chuck” H. Schmitt Jr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Weymouth, Mass.. He was born on February 14, 1944, in Washington, the son of the late Charles H. Schmitt, Sr., and Rhoma J. Brumley Schmitt Campbell.

He lived in many parts of our country throughout his lifetime, but always called Canonsburg home.

Chuck had been living in Massachusetts for the past four years.

Chuck was the oldest of four children.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings and their families; brother, Stanley J. “Jack” Schmitt, of Coshocton, Ohio, and his son, Charles L. Schmitt of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, William H. Campbell, of Houston; sister, Kathleen A. Wiley, of Norwell, Mass., and her daughter, Beth A. Sullivan, husband Timothy, and their children, Ryan, Christian, and Avalyn Sullivan, of Hingham, Mass..

He loved watching the children play.

Chuck was an amazing and loving person who always enjoyed celebrating life, spending time with his family, and bringing a smile to everyone’s face.

He graduated from Canon McMillan High School in 1962, and retained lifelong relationships with many of his classmates.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he graduated from Penn Commercial College. He enjoyed a long career in retail where he was a buyer for several large retailers. Later in his career, he worked with retail liquidation companies, which afforded him the opportunity to travel and live in many different places throughout North America.

Chuck was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, and especially loved the Steelers and Pirates.

In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and golf. He always looked forward to an annual fishing trip to Canada with his brother, Jack. It was always debated as to who caught the largest fish. He golfed whenever he could and described one of his fondest memories as having the honor of playing at Pebble Beach. His proudest golfing achievement was a hole-in-one during one of his golf outings.

Chuck always had the brightest smile in the room, he loved to tell a great story and will be greatly missed by his family, especially during the holiday season.
