Elizabeth June Gielata “Betty”, 86, of Stowe Township, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 10, 2021. Beloved wife of 67 years to Joseph E. Gielata, daughter of the late Bill and Ruth Snyder; dear mother of Michael E. (Patti) Gielata, Kevin E. (Vicki) Gielata, and Eric J. (Melissa) Gielata; loving grandmother of Katie, Michael (Emma), Tyler, Isaac, Shelby, Lucas and great-grandmother, of Reese; sister, of Bill (Ruth Ann) Snyder, Jane Snyder, Joyce Snyder and Jack (Pam) Snyder; sister-in-law, of Bernie Borkowski and the late Mary, Sally and Helen. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Betty June had a courageous eight-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She encouraged others with the disease to stay strong and hopeful. Betty was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She loved family time, playing cards with her friends, and adventures with her husband, Joe. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and neighbor – Betty’s life will be remembered by all.

Family and friends are welcome for visitation 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, at the ANTHONY M. MUSMANNO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 941 McCoy Road, McKees Rocks (Kennedy Township) PA 15136. A funeral service will be conducted in the Musmanno Chapel on Friday at 11:30 a.m., Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Allegheny Health Network Oncology Care Fund.
