Irma J. Pierson Urey
Irma J. Pierson Urey, 86, of Waynesburg, died on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 4:15 p.m., in the WHS-Greene Hospital, Waynesburg, after being seriously ill for the past five days with a COVID-19 related illness.
She was born November 12, 1935, in Aleppo Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Frank and Verda Lucille Grinnage Pierson, and had resided in Center Township, for several years prior to moving to Waynesburg in 2018.
Mrs. Urey was a member of the Crab Apple Community Church in Richhill Township.
She was last employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the McKinnley Nursing Home in Canton, Ohio.
Mrs. Urey enjoyed her family and grandchildren, reading, crocheting and her special pet dog Sassie.
On July 7, 1956, she married William Howard Urey, who died August 28, 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrie (Michael Mariani) Montgomery, of Canonsburg; three grandchildren, William (Johna Caster) Montgomery, Anthony Montgomery, and Amanda Holden; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Morris, of Uniontown; three brothers, John (Susan) Pierson, of Prosperity, George Pierson, of Aleppo, and Gary Pierson, of Luray, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband, are a son, William Edward Urey, who died November 27, 1990; two sisters, Rosie Pierson, who died in infancy, and Woneeda Gary, who died September 15, 2021; two brothers, Jim and Frank Pierson.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., in Rogersville.
Interment will be private, and held in Centennial Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
