Robert “Bob” Glenn Barnhart, 78, died peacefully on Monday, December 13, 2021, after battling a sudden illness.

He was born in Washington County, on August 4th, 1943, son of the late Glenn William Barnhart and Helen Ruth McAdoo Barnhart.

Bob was predeceased by his sister, Mary Barnhart Post; and brother, Carl Barnhart.

Bob was a 1961 graduate of McGuffey High School, the very first class to graduate from the new school. While attending McGuffey High School, he was active on the baseball team and the wrestling team. He was a talented athlete throughout school and served as captain of the varsity wrestling team.

Mr. Barnhart worked at Jessop Steel Company for 30 years, retiring in 1992. One of the youngest employees to ever retire from Jessop, he enjoyed many years of retirement. He was also a lifelong member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church.

In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, square dancing, hunting, collecting antiques, and working around the homestead. His favorite project was working on his flagpole, which was a testament to his strong sense of patriotism.

For those who knew him well, Bob had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was an excellent storyteller and always enjoyed bringing a smile to your face. He is best described as a kind, generous and courteous man, and he will be sorely missed by his surviving family.

He is survived by his nephews, Randall Post, David Post, Michael Barnhart, Ronald Barnhart, Brian Barnhart; and niece, Diane Barnhart Bamont; brother-in-law, Samuel Post; sister-in-law, Mary Sapp Barnhart.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Young’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville.

Interment to follow at the Claysville Cemetery.
