Worthy E. Fox Jr., 85, of Rogersville, died Friday, December 17, 2021, in Washington Hospital. He had been in failing health the last five years.
He was born in Franklin Township, Greene County, on May 10, 1936, to the late Worthy Edward Fox Sr., and Virginia A. Keck Fox.
Worthy had many fond memories of his childhood living in Marianna and the Ruff Creek Area.
He attended Waynesburg High School, class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.
Worthy was a retired “Hoist Operator” with United Mine Workers for several years. He also was a self-employed carpentry contractor and enjoyed making all sorts of wood projects in his workshop.
In retirement, he delivered newspapers for the Observer-Reporter for 6 years.
Worthy is survived by his wife, Marietta; one sister, Nancy (Jack) Richter, of Mt. Pleasant; his son, Charles (Glo) Fox, of Bumpass, Va.; his daughter, Susan (Dave) Calcek, of Charleroi; stepchildren, Shelley Lafferty and Keith Smith; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Fur Babies, Buddy and Berra.
Arrangements by All Counties Cremation Services.
As per his wishes, there will be no viewing or service.
