Jerry Edward Mackey
Jerry Edward Mackey, 76, of Waynesburg, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
He was born December 21, 1945, in Martin, the son of the late Wilbert and Betty Mackey.
On May 17, 1972, he married Charlotte Malaspina Alden, who survives. They spent the last 50 years in Waynesburg raising their family.
He was a proud member of the UMWA, District 4, Local# 6330 and served multiple terms as Chairman of the Safety Committee at Gateway Coal Mine in Lippincott, from where he retired. He loved hunting and fishing when his health permitted. What he loved most of all was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by daughter, Patty Alden of Waynesburg; son, Jerry (Maranda) Walters, of Carmichaels, son Brad (Kelly) Mackey, of Waynesburg, son Matt (Terri) Mackey, of Waynesburg; grandchildren, Jerry Walters, Amanda Walters, David O’Donoghue, Kara Mackey, Ayden Mackey, Gavin Walters, Levi Walters, and Laken Walters; sister, Nancy Panzo; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mackey; and special family members, Bill (Linda) Hixon, and their children, Jennifer and Billie Jo (Greg) Yakubik, and Lloyd (Sue) Hixon; several nieces and nephews; and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeromy Mackey; sisters, Norma Jean Taylor, and Connie Peffer; brothers, Ronald Mackey and Robert Mackey; and special family, Ken and Thelma Hixon, and Sandy and Pete Hixon.
At Jerry’s request, there will be no public services.
