Willis Conrad Steele, Jr.
Willis Conrad “Lefty” Steele Jr., 94, of McMurray, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at his home.
Lefty was born in Pittsburgh, on December 29, 1926, and was a graduate of West View High School.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was active during the last year of World War II. Following his naval experience, Lefty went to the University of Pittsburgh on the GI Bill where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
In December of 1950, he married the love of his life, Sally Ann Wettach, with who he shared 52 wonderful years.
Lefty had a long career in Hormel Foods of Austin, Minn., as a sales representative and regional manager until his retirement in 1988.
He was involved in several community activities during these years, including the Little Lake Theater Group and the Toastmasters of America. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Pitt Panthers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
Lefty was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Ann Wettach Steele; and his dear parents, Willis Conrad Steele, Sr. and Mary Elaine Eckels Steele-he was their only child.
He was the loving father of Bruce (Kathryn) Steele, of Canton, Ohio, Mark Steele of Cecil, and David Steele of Frankfort, Ky.; devoted grandpa of Jennifer (Scott) Thomas, Jordan (Rachel) Steele, Summer Steele, Sarah (Phil) Rinker, Rachel Steele, David (Angelica) Steele, Jr., Elodie (Romain) D’Abramo, and the late Cedrick Steele; adoring great-grandpa of Grayson, Isabella, Chloe, Aven, Avery Grace, Rosie, Charlotte, and Xander.
Arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends and family received at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday.
All are welcome to then join the family in taking Lefty to his final place of rest, next to Sally, at Forest Lawn Gardens cemetery, where a graveside service with full military honors will be held.
