John F. Pollana

John R. “Jack” Pollana, 83, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021, in his home.

He was born July 16, 1937, in Washington, a son of the late John Louis and Hannah A. Laurich Pollana.

Jack had lived on the family farm since the 1950s and was a dairy farmer his entire life. He was also a partner of K-P Asphalt with his nephew, Rick Kosarik from 1986 until he retired from the business in 2007.

Jack enjoyed being outdoors, cutting grass and taking drives in his corvette. He raised and raced horses at The Meadows and Mountaineer Racetrack.

Jack will be remembered as a kind soul with a heart of gold.

Surviving are a daughter, Christy Pollana of Washington; a granddaughter, Emma Lucia; two sisters, Rosemarie Taylor of Burgettstown and Janet (Gene) Bressanelli of Hickory; sister-in-law Delaine Pollana of Myrtle Beach, SC; a niece, Cindy (Abbie) Rush; nephews Anthony (Kathy) Taylor of Bethel Park, Thomas Taylor of Philadelphia, Ricky (JoAnn) Kosarik of Hickory, Randy (Claire) Kosarik of Florida, Ronnie (Michelle) Kosarik of Hickory, Chris (Stacey) Pollana of Florida and Kevin (Christy) Pollana of Washington; 14 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-nephew and three great-great nieces.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Louis Pollana; two sisters, Mildred Pollana and Betty Jo Pollana Stoner; a brother-in-law, Don Taylor; and two nephews, Keith Pollana and Donnie Taylor.

All funeral arrangements are private and entrusted to Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home, Inc., Avella.

Entombment will be in Washington Cemetery Community Mausoleum, Washington.

A public memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Jack requested that you plant a tree in his memory.
