Robert L. Cholak
Robert L. “Bobby” Cholak, 71, of Meadowlands, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021, in Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born July 19, 1949, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Jack “Jay” and Ruth Gallagher Cholak.
Bobby lived his life in Meadowlands and had been a member of the Miraculous Medal worship site of St. Oscar Romero Roman Catholic Parish. He was a 1967 graduate of Chartiers- Houston High School and had been employed at the Peternel mink farm and as a caddy at Washington Country Club in his youth. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a maintenance tech for Ferro and formerly Drakenfeld for 33 years.
Bobby was a very social person, quick witted and humorous. When you were with him, you knew you would eat well, drink well and have a good time. He lived large. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his camp on Lake Erie.
Bobby was a member of Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh, past president of the Shriners Caravan 2 in Washington, the Chartiers Lodge 297 Free and Accepted Masons in Canonsburg, the Bears Club in Meadowlands, the Palenka Club, American Legion Post 902 of Houston and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg.
On September 24, 2005, he married Nancy Brautigam, who survives. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Holly Cholak of San Francisco; his son, Zachary Cholak of Canonsburg; stepdaughters Veronica Furmanek (Jake) Sheets of Washington, Angela Furmanek (Jim) Duchi of Claysville and Kristina Furmanek and her fiance, Mike Morales of Meadowlands; a stepson, Thomas (Steffanie) Furmanek of Clayesville; his brother, Phil (Zeke) Cholak and his wife, Katheryn of Bowie, Md.; sister-in-law Betty Cholak of Elk Ridge, Md.; eight stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his brothers, Jack and Harry Cholak.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 18. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn, and social distancing will be required at all times.
