Clara Teresa Bistarkey Kalan

Clara Teresa Bistarkey Kalan, 95, of Southview, died Tuesday, February 16, 2021, in Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was the last of her immediate family of 12.

She was born November 22, 1925, in Southview, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Cashimer Bistarkey, in the same home where she raised her own family.

She was a member of St. Mary Church, Corpus Christi Parish, Cecil, and Slovene National Benefit Society Lodge 265, Southview, and the RCA bowling and golf leagues. She was a graduate of Cecil High School. Clara enjoyed interior painting but not cleaning up as much, dancing and hosting all the family holiday parties. As the matriarch of a large family, her passion for cooking always brought everyone together.

She worked at RCA in Meadowlands for 35 years.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Charlene) Kalan of South Fayette; daughter, Beverly (and the late William) Marchewka of Meadowlands; two granddaughters, Chantel (Keith) Goldstrohm and Stacey (Gary) Dranikoski, both of South Fayette; five great-grandchildren, Alec, Brent and Kaylin Goldstrohm, and Ava and Lauryn Dranikoski; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Kalan in 1985; and nine brothers, John, Joseph, Steve, Frank, Andy, George, Martin, Charles and Thomas Bistarkey; two sisters, Mary Kler and Ellen DiNardo; and a step-grandson, Brian W. Marchewka.

Private services will be held in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, PA 15321.

Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
