Betty J. Bayer

Betty J. Bayer, 82, of Eighty Four, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

She was born July 6, 1938, in Washington, a daughter of the late Levi “Bee” Porter and Anna Haymaker Porter.

On September 26, 1959, she married L. Edward Bayer who passed away in October 2015. They shared 56 years of marriage together.

Mrs. Bayer was a 1956 graduate of Trinity High School. She was also a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish.

Mrs. Bayer was employed by Trinity Area School District and Columbia Gas before becoming a homemaker.

She enjoyed playing cards, baking, hosting family picnics, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting and school events.

Surviving are a son, Jay (Judy) Bayer; a daughter, Lynn (Scott) Hudak, both of Washington; a son, Thomas (Judi) Bayer of Hickory; seven grandchildren, Ryan Ferguson, Rachel Bayer, Kayla (Tyler) Kerns, Tanner Hudak, and Logan, Karlyn and Evan Bayer; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Lynn Kerns, all of whom she adored.

Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are five brothers, William and Robert Withrow, Earl, Everett and Donald Porter.

The staff at the former Washington County Health Center Adult Day Care, Hawthorne Woods, and Gateway Hospice provided love and care.

Due to current COVID health restrictions, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
