Mary Kay Dano
Mary Kay Dano, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, Monday, January 11, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 7, 1944, a daughter of the late Cyril and Leona Haase of Battle Lake, Minn. In her youth she enjoyed water skiing and spending time on the lakes near her home.
Mary attended Battle Lake High School and later attended Concordia College. This is where she met her future husband, John Dano, who preceded her in death. Together they moved to Canonsburg in 1965.
Mary and John co-founded Dano Lawn Service. They enjoyed many years of running a successful business until handing over operations to their son, John Michael. Mary was also employed by Shop N Save, where she continued her love of plants and flowers until her retirement.
Mary Dano was an avid Civil War and history buff and enjoyed trips to Gettysburg with her close friend, Donna Brockway. In addition to history, Mary also enjoyed watching football and exploring the internet. She had a deep love of animals, especially her cats. She was also one of the kindest and gentlest souls that most people had ever met. She will be deeply missed by all that were blessed to have known her.
Surviving are her son, John M. Dano, her daughter-in-law, Paula Dano and her grandson, John Anthony Dano.
At the family’s request, services will be held privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3827 Washington Road, McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions in Mary’s name to https://mageewomens.org/support for Gynecological Oncology Research and Education Fund.
