Constance B. Lester

Constance B. “Connie” Lester, 92, of New Eagle, died Saturday, January 16, 2021, in the Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela. She was born September 29, 1928, in Forward Township, a daughter of Louis W. and Mary E. Fine Munger.

Connie was one of the first carhops at the Eat’n Park in Monongahela, where she worked for four years. She also waitressed at several other restaurants in Monongahela. Connie retired with more than 20 years of employment as a cafeteria worker from the Ringgold School District and was a member of the Riverhill Church of Christ in Monongahela. She enjoyed square dancing, cooking, baking (especially pies) and canning, for which she was selected as the judge’s choice at the Washington County Fair.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford G. Lester, with whom she celebrated 72 years of marriage October 18, 2020; two daughters and two sons, Connie G. Custer and husband Roy of Finleyville, Keith W. Lester and wife Patty of Monongahela, Wendy S. Jones and husband Mark of New Eagle, Jeffrey D. Lester of New Eagle; 10 grandchildren, Roy II and Cris Custer, Clifford and Joshua Lester, Crystal, Mark II, Jeremy, Isaac and Susie Jones, and Amanda Lester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jennifer Riffle, who died December 9, 2020.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, with the Rev. Paul Eisaman officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. For those family and friends who would like to attend the graveside service only, please be at the funeral home by 11:30 a.m. to join in the procession to the cemetery.
