Edward M. Greb

Dr. Edward M. Greb, 87, of Washington, passed away peacefully, January 18, 2021, at Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare. He was born June 16, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Edward P. and Marie Shilling Greb.
Following his high school graduation, Dr. Greb served his country honorably in the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Once returning from overseas, he continued his education at Duquesne University earning his bachelor degree and master’s degree in sociology. He then went on to earn his doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in higher education with emphasis on anthropology.
Dr. Greb worked as a Professor of Sociology for Washington & Jefferson College beginning in 1976 until his retirement in 2014. Dr. Greb was very influential at Washington & Jefferson in the area of study abroad, and personally accompanied over 200 students to Japan. One of his proudest accomplishments was establishing the Edward and Barbara Greb Travel Award Endowment, an award which assists students who desire to study abroad.
Dr. Edward Greb is survived by numerous family members and his friends in the Washington & Jefferson College community.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Greb was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara M. Greb.
