Larry McCloy

Larry McCloy, 70, of Stockdale, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born in North Charleroi November 14, 1950, a son of Dorothy Savage McCloy of Stockdale and the late Grant “Buster” McCloy.

Larry was retired from the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant. He served in the U.S. National Guard and was a lifelong member of the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department #17. Larry was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and loved all other sports as well. He was a 1969 graduate of Charleroi High School.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Holly McCloy of Roscoe; a son, Scott (fiancee Cierra Campbell) of Canonsburg; his constant companion, Rita Sloan of Stockdale; a brother, Gary “Peanuts” McCloy of Stockdale; a sister, Cindy (David) Lehr of Speers; his ex-wife, Marilyn Popelas McCloy of Roscoe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George “Rusty” McCloy; and his furry companion, Tucker.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc., 1008 Furlong Avenue, Roscoe, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Long Branch. Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department will pay their respects at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Masks and social distancing are mandatory and please be mindful to keep your visit short.
