Archie R. Fisher Jr.

Archie R. “Butch” Fisher Jr., 69, of Avella, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in Wellsburg, W.Va., with his loving wife by his side.
He was born April 17, 1951, in Washington, a son of the late Archie Richard Fisher Sr. and Edith “Buffy” Fowler Fisher.
Butch was a 1970 graduate of Avella High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during Vietnam, with the rank of Airman First Class, honorably discharged in 1972.
He worked for Weirton Steel Corporation as a welder for 30 years, retiring in 2003.
Butch was Christian by faith and was a member of Bert C. Siders American Legion Post 643 of Avella, United Steelworkers Local 2911 of Weirton and the United States Bowling Congress.
He enjoyed bowling with his league, woodworking, jigsaw puzzles and travelling across the country in his motor home with his wife Patty and their dog Buffy. Butch was an avid reader and was the owner and operator of Archie’s Upholstery Company for 30 years.
On August 17, 1973, he married Patricia Jean Clow, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 47 years, are three children, Melissa Clingenpeel (Mark Janusek) of Bethel Park, Peggy (Tim) Ansell of Follansbee, W.Va. and Archie Fisher III (Holly Omaits) of Wellsburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Amber, Devon, Austin, Allyson, Logan and Kaitlyn; a great-granddaughter, Iris; four sisters, Vickie (Bill) Thompson of Weirton, W.Va., Becky McGraw of Burgettstown, Nancy (Tom) Kern of Avella and Shirley Fisher of West Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
All funeral arrangements are private.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Avella.
