Daniel Plovic
Daniel Plovic, 84, of Washington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 19, 2021, in his home. He was born January 26, 1936, in Strabane, a son of the late Joseph and Julia Potocer Plovc.
Dan attended Chartiers High School and graduated in 1954. Dan earned the rank of Eagle Scout at Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church and was a scoutmaster of Troop 1414 in Eighty Four.
He worked at Kmet Tool and Millcraft Industries as a machinist for 52 years.
Dan was a member of the St. Patrick worship site of St. Oscar Romero Parish, where he attended all of his life. He belonged to the Catholic Men’s Club and the Washington County Sportsmen and Conservation League. An avid outdoorsman, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On September 6, 1955, he married Marian Rose Wilkinson. They were married for 65 years and had seven children, Cynthia (Charles) Conley of Snohomish, Wash., Sharon (Jay) Neff of New Martinsville, W.Va., James (Susan) Plovic of Verona, Joseph Plovic of Snohomish, Sandra (Robert) Williams of Guilford, Maine, Rose Baker of Northlake, Texas, and Jennifer (Richard) West of Washington; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his sister, Marie Barish; and three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Thomas Plovc.
Private funeral services will be held for the family at 2 p.m. Friday, January 22, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. The service will be live streamed over Facebook and the Salandra website, where directions for viewing are on the homepage and will be available at 1:50 p.m. Friday.
Private burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Men’s Club or the Washington County Sportsmen and Conservation League.
