William Marvin “Skeeter” Lipscomb, 74, of Washington, died Friday, January 15, 2021, in Washington Hospital.

Skeeter was born December 10, 1946, in Bluefield, W.Va., a son of the late Christine Biddings. He was raised by Lucy Jane Carter and Marvin Lipscomb.

He graduated from Trinity High School and was a steelworker for decades at Jessop Steel in Washington.

Skeeter was active with Narcotics Anonymous being clean and serene for 32 years.

He loved to cook and was famous for his ribs and ham. An avid sports fan, he played for the Washington Generals, and was a “disgruntled” Steelers fan.

Skeeter was a very proud Pap-Pap.

On November 18, 1991, Skeeter married Michele Moye, who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Brandon (Sarah) Lipscomb of D’Iberville, Miss. and Darnell Barnes of Riverside, Calif.; daughter, India Lipscomb of Washington; sisters, Evelyn Goins, Dardanella Biddings and Sandra Rias, all of East Chicago, Ind.; grandchildren, Airryana, Alayna, Amar’e, Skylar and Serena; many nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, William Graham.

He was predeceased by a brother, Carl Biddings Jr.

Skeeter proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Due to Covid-19, all services are private.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
