Joseph Swarrow

Joseph “Shorty” Swarrow, 63, of Brownsville (Centerville Borough), passed away Thursday, January 17, 2021, in North Strabane Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.

He was born September 28, 1957, in Brownsville, a son of the late Martin and Rebecca Grant Swarrow.

Mr. Swarrow was a 1976 graduate of Beth-Center High School and was an integral player of their 1975 state championship football team.

Joe was employed at Lincoln Hydraulics in Meadow Lands for 44 years, retiring in 2020. He was a class A mechanic and a member of the United Mine Workers of America #1199.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his girls and loved being a girl dad. Joe turned his friends into family and was a hard worker and a great friend. He especially loved being a grandfather and his dog, Jesse.

Surviving are two daughters, Amanda Swarrow of Maple Glen and Baylee Swarrow of Centerville; four grandchildren, Tristian Ankrom, Kaylee Greene, Noah Ritter and Robert Mechling; two brothers, Robert Swarrow of Phoenix, Ariz. and Martin “Bimbo” Swarrow (Mary) of Richeyville; one sister, Betty Blazek of Olmstead Falls Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Tera Houston Swarrow; daughter, Christina Swarrow; a brother, John Swarrow; brother-in-law, Bob Blazek; and nephew, Keith Blazek.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, in Westland Cemetery, Brownsville, with Pastor Cody Alderson officiating.
