Rudolph A. Delopitro

Rudolph A. “Rudy” Delopitro, 96, of Erie, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at Elmwood Gardens.

He was born June 27, 1924, in Poland, Pa., a son of the late Alex and Mary Sanetrik Delopitro.

Rudy served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a waist gunner on a B17, with 26 missions over Germany as he was stationed in Rattlesdon, England.

He loved all the Pittsburgh teams, he watched all the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins games and was an Erie Otters season ticket holder. Rudy would help anyone out. He was employed as an assembler at Bucyrus Erie.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Whitten and Helen “Rusty” Triplett.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anita Gauriloff Delopitro; sister, Alexia Jones of Belle Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard, Erie, PA 16508, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, with the Rev. John Malthaner officiating.

Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
