James D. Howes

James D. Howes, 75, of Fredericktown, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, in Advanced Personal Care Home, Clarksville.

He was born May 19, 1945, in Fredericktown, a son of the late Henry and Edna Lucille Kisner Howes.

Mr. Howes was a graduate of the Bethlehem Joint School District and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He was employed as a clerk typist with the Department of Environmental Protection in California, retiring in 2007.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles.

On March 21, 1969, he married Barbara Roger Howes, who died May 26, 2019. They celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Surviving are two children, Byron Andrew “Andy” Howes (Ann) of Clarksville and Heather McCollum (Mike) of Beallsville; six grandchildren, Kirstin and Courtney Howes, Taylor, Alexis, Kyle and Noah McCollum; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Roman Anderson; one sister, Linda Carol Lewis (James) of Alabama.

Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are two siblings, Donald Howes and Sandra McDaniel.

Funeral services are private and under the direction of the Greenlee’s Fredericktown Funeral Home, Ltd. Military rites will be accorded graveside by the U.S. Army and Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 Centerville in the Beallsville Cemetery.
