Stanley Irwin Parkinson
Stanley Irwin Parkinson, 73, of Chicopee, Mass., formerly of Washington, passed away surrounded by his wife and family, Thursday, July 15, 2021.
He was born June 1, 1948, in Washington, to the late Raymond and Merle Parkinson.
Stanley worked as a vehicle maintenance supervisor at Westover Air Force Base. After his retirement, he went to work part-time at Puffton Village working with a group of men that became very special to him.
He was both a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Air Force Reserves at Westover Air Force Base. Stanley was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 927 in Washington.
Stanley was an avid bass fisherman and participated in many tournaments, loved bowling and enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Darlene Clegg Parkinson; three daughters, Tana Parkinson of Chicopee, Mass., Lisa (Matt) Dufresne of Granby, Conn. and Adria (Erik) Loiko of Southampton, Mass.; along with his four grandchildren, Devon and Dayton Thomas, Dakota and Weston Pandolfini, who were the pride and joys of his life. He also leaves his brother, Raymond (MaryJane) Parkinson of Washington; and sisters, Joyce Wylie of Houston, Sharon Zets of Washington, Kathy (Frank) Ondash of Houston, Mary L. Crawford and Tracy (Jesse Bova) Parkinson, both of Washington; along with Aunt Junie and several nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert F. Parkinson; and brothers-in-law, William Wylie and Ted Zets.
The committal service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Mass. at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21.
