Stephen R. Barkey, 73, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Friday, May 28, 2021, in his home.
He was born March 31, 1948, in New Eagle, the son of the late Steve J. and Susan Weygandt Barkey, and stepson of the late Mary Butera Barkey who raised him since childhood.
Steve retired from US Steel Clairton Works after 36 years of employment. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the US Army and was Catholic by faith.
He is survived by his son, Bill Watson (Jodi) of Rostraver Township; two stepsons, Shawn and Christopher Trump; granddaughter, Rachel Watson and daughter; four brothers, Martin Barkey (Andrea) of New Eagle, David Barkey (Kimberly) of Monongahela, Robert Barkey of Monongahela, Rev. Patrick Barkey of Charleroi; sister-in-law, Peggy Barkey of Latrobe; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and stepmother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lori A. Williams Barkey who died January 29, 2015; daughter, Tammy Barkey who died April 15, 2008; and brother, Michael Barkey.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela, with the Rev. Patrick Barkey as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
