Brandon Michael Retos, 38, of East Washington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 29, 2021, following a long struggle with addiction. Brandon was born August 10, 1982, in Pittsburgh, to Kathy Roach Retos Howden, originally of Bulger, and George Retos, originally of Monongahela.

Brandon attended Washington High School, took courses at Community College of Allegheny County, and most recently was enrolled at Bella Capelli Academy, preparing for a career as a hairstylist, for which he had a passion. Brandon previously worked at Panthera Painting, where he served as an administrative assistant, working with the management team in preparing for large bridge-painting contracts.

Brandon was a unique and special individual with a tender heart and a passion for a vibrant life. He loved to tinker with machinery, enjoyed riding motorcycles and his 4×4 quads, and loved to hunt with his grandfather. He was an avid animal lover and had many dogs and various other pets over the years. Brandon had a vibrant and infectious personality and didn’t know a stranger.

Brandon was predeceased by his grandfathers, Robert G. Roach and George Retos Sr.; and grandmother Irene Retos.

Brandon is survived by his grandmother, Mary Lou Roach of Bulger, with whom he had a special bond; his parents, Kathy Retos Howden (Bill Howden) and George Retos of Washington; siblings Kassandra Retos (Gregg Rodgers) of Pittsburgh and Nicholas Retos of Washington. Brandon is also survived by his nephew, Roman Greyson Rodgers of Pittsburgh, who was the light of his life. Brandon enjoyed loving relationships with several aunts and uncles, and especially his cousins, Jarrod Takah of Washington and Josh Takah of Carnegie, who were like brothers.

Brandon’s service arrangements include viewings at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care in McMurray from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 3, with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, in the funeral home, with interment following at Center Cemetery in Midway.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Area Humane Society.
