Wilma Jean Houston Drexler
Wilma Jean Houston Drexler, 91, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in Manor Care Health Services, Peters Township.
She was born January 5, 1930, in Washington, a daughter and youngest of six children of the late Francis “Frank” M. and Effa Beatrice “Bea” Kinnan Houston.
She was a 1948 graduate of Washington High School, a former member of the West Washington United Methodist Church, and went on to work for Bell Telephone and retired after 42 years of service. She was a “number, please” switchboard operator for many years, later becoming a supervisor. She then served for many years in the business office as a service representative. She also served as a union representative for 17 years.
She is a past-president of the Bell Telephone Pioneer Association and was a member of the “Bell Telephone Ten-Year Club.”
On September 21, 1996, she married John A. “Jack” Drexler and retired to Florida. During her 18 years down south she and Jack were very involved with The Pioneers and loved to go on cruises together. Mr. Drexler died September 13, 2010. Jean then returned to Pennsylvania for the remainder of her life.
Surviving are two, devoted daughters, Rebecca Roche (William) Hull of Huntsville, Ala. and Deborah Roche (Larry) Mounts of Washington; four grandchildren, Michael (Paula) Mounts, Tara Mounts (Tanzan) Hepfer, Jordan Hull (Nicolas) Henson and Jared (Sheena) Hull; and 10 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Kirsten, Faith, Paige and Abby Mounts, Cooper and Tanner Henson, Christian and Eliana Hepfer and Lydia Hull.
Deceased are a brother, William Houston; and four sisters, Virginia Seachrest, Alice Trump, Lillian Faith Houston, and Madalyn Roche.
