Viola F. Phillips Johnson

Viola F. Phillips Johnson, 84, of Sycamore, Pa., died at 6:44 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

She was born Friday, March 5, 1937 in Spraggs, Pa., a daughter of the late William Albert Phillips and Edna Mae Cook Phillips.

Viola was a member of the Church of Christ in Washington, Pa. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and helping others. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She worked in housekeeping at the University and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, B. Scott Johnson, whom she married on July 5,1959.

Also surviving are four daughters, Wanda (Alfred) Cole, of Waynesburg, Pa., Lucinda “Cindy” (Terry) Lidey, of Hickory, N.C., Myra (Mike) Adams, of Buchanan, Mich., and Amanda (Jeff) Toothman, of Harker Heights, Tex., nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, a sister, Opal Gilmore, of Akron, Ohio; a brother, George Phillips, of Somerset, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are several brothers and sisters.

Private visitation and services were held at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director, 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, with John Wright as minister.

Burial will be private in the Sand Hill Cemetery, Springhill Township, Greene County, Pa. Information at www.milliken-throckmortonfh.com.
