Gerald Gene Phillips
Gerald “Jerry” Gene Phillips passed away Friday, June 18, 2021, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief battle with cancer.
Jerry was born May 19, 1940, in Westland, to Matthew and Velma Phillips.
He was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, Class of 1958, served in the Army National Guard and enjoyed a 32-year career at McGraw-Edison.
He was an avid archer, runner, bluegrass organizer, luthier, golfer and woodworker.
He was a longtime leader in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and was most recently a member of Unite Church, Washington, where he served as a deacon.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Claudia Sefton Phillips; his children, Kimberley (Len) Morton and David (Elise) Phillips; a brother, Matthew (May) Phillips; four grandchildren, Zac Morton, Chelsea (Clayton) Johnson, Nicholas Phillips and Jacob (Morgan) Phillips; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Cali Rae Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two brothers, Jack and Ronald Phillips; and a great-grandson, Colt Johnson.
A celebration of life is being planned at a future date to be determined.
