Stella L. Edwards
Stella L. Edwards, 78, of Washington, died Sunday, June 20, 2021, in her home, following an extended illness.
She was born May 3, 1943, in Lumberton, Miss., a daughter of Allen and Bettie Fowler Edwards.
Stella was a 1962 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
Ms. Edwards had worked at the former McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg and was a cook at the former Lou Kary’s in McMurray.
Her faith was very important in her life. She had belonged to the New Hope Baptist Church and TLC Church in Washington and was presently attending Legacy Church International in Washington.
Stella enjoyed reading her Bible and singing hymns.
She is survived by four sons, Rodney Edwards of Upper Marlboro, Md., Nathaniel Edwards and Jamaal Edwards (Erin Andy), both of Washington, and Rasool Edwards (fiancee Jessica Freeman) of Carmichaels; 10 grandchildren, Laquan, Shawnte, Brionna, Tyrik, Isaiah, Malekahi and Gionni Edwards, Dietrick Davidson, and Azyah and Ashante Dotson; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Shelly Edwards of Washington; two brothers, Charles Edwards of Washington and John Edwards of Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two sisters, Sadie Watkins and Mildred Williams; a brother, Allen “Nick” Edwards Jr.; and her significant other, Roy Edwards.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, with the Rev. L.B. Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
