Patience M. Fowler
Patience M. Fowler, of Broomfield, Colo., formerly of Avella, passed away peacefully Monday, June 7, 2021. She was a daughter to the late Lawrence A. (Opal E.) Barton, of Lakeside, Calif.
She was born August 25, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa. The family moved to Portland, Ore., in the spring of 1941. They then moved to California in 1950, where they settled in Lakeside in 1952.
At the age of 18 she enlisted into the U.S. Army. While stationed in Ft. Eustis, Va., she met the man she would marry a few short years later, the late Harry D. Fowler (1936 – 2010). They settled on the family farm in Avella in 1960, built the family home in 1962 and lived there together until his passing in 2010.
She relocated to Northglenn, Colo., in the fall of 2014, where she became very active in church and social activities. She enjoyed going to bingo several times a week and was an avid reader of books of all genres. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and created many beautiful blankets and other items. She was a member of Chartiers Chapter #97, Order of the Eastern Star, Canonsburg, and the Red Hat Society in Northglenn.
She leaves behind three sisters, Margaret (Richard) Kutnock of Los Angeles, Calif., Florence (Hobart) Riley of Texas, Geraldine (James) Darr of Colorado; and one brother, Lawrence Barton (Carole) of Northglenn; three sons, Damon Pabst of Washington, Larry (Cindy) Fowler of Eighty Four and Ed Fowler of Frackville; two granddaughters, Jessica (Matthew) Menhart of Washington, and Samantha Fowler and fiance Jeffrey Walden; several great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gunner, Grayson, Ella, Melody and Abigail (to be born October 2021); as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 8, at Cross Creek Park, 1 County Park Road, Avella, PA 15312.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local veterans group in her memory.
